Nexleaf Analytics is a nonprofit technology company located in Los Angeles, California that designs and engineers low-cost wireless sensor technologies for critical health and environmental interventions around the world (www.nexleaf.org). Nexleaf partners with leading institutions, such as Qualcomm, Vodafone Americas Foundation, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, to develop advanced technology innovations that impact and improve public health.
We are excited to be working with Ministries of Health around the world to deploy wireless remote temperature monitoring sensors in rural clinics. These sensors help protect vaccines and other critical medications from spoiling, thereby making more vaccines available to treat children in need.
We are looking for an exceptional programmer to help develop the cloud-based web service that collects and analyzes data from our sensors as well as the Android application that controls each device.
About the Position:
Location: Los Angeles, California – the person filling this position must be local to Los Angeles
Start Date: November 2014
Job Type: Full-Time Employee or Independent Contractor (To Be Discussed)
Compensation: $60,000 to $80,000 contingent on experience
At Nexleaf, we do a lot of prototyping of our software features, and we imagine that this position will help with the ongoing iteration on those features and the process of bringing them into production. This job will cover the whole cycle of implementing new features, revising existing features, thorough testing, and production deployment. The major responsibilities of the position include:
- Programming the frontend and backend of our web service and analytics platform, using Python, Django, HTML, JavaScript, CSS and other related languages and tools.
- Debugging Android phones and the web service.
- Management of our Android testbed.
- Managing testing and developing test cases.
- Providing general technical support to our CTO and project coordinators.
- Managing the QA/QC process for software/hardware releases.
Education and Experience Required:
- College degree.
- Minimum 2 years of frontend and backend experience with Python, Django, HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.
- Minimum 1 year of basic Android experience, including debugging.
- Minimum 5 years of experience of Linux administration.
- Relevant experience in setting up and executing thorough testing procedures for new software features.
- Relevant experience deploying features of the backend and frontend into production.
- Experience with using AWS.
- Basic data processing and analysis experience.
- Proficiency with mobile phones and mobile applications.
- Experience working with nonprofit organizations.
