Simon Rowland
I’m a conscientious, highly skilled Software Engineer with first class communication and project management skills. I use Open Source technologies and Agile project management practices to deliver reliable, scalable software that properly satisfies pressing business needs.
I work as a freelancer, so am experienced in every aspect of starting, designing, implementing and maintaining software projects. I’m happy to help make the right technology choices for a new application, and have Amazon AWS certification in the proper use of Cloud Technologies to host and maintain applications in a cost effective, reliable way. I’m proud to say that my customers are always delighted, and I have many excellent recommendations on LinkedIn.
I have an analytical approach and a very broad range of experience. I always take the time to understand the requirements of the project stakeholders, and the business needs that are being addressed. I’m equally happy starting an application from scratch or developing software that works in harmony with existing solutions. I have worked on many different types of software including mega-scale server-side Java Virtual Machines at IBM, developing a new Web Application for the BBC, and developing RESTful data APIs for Linden Lab, the makers of Second Life™.
I currently specialise in Python / Django Web Applications and in creating business tools to streamline processes and free up peoples time to concentrate on their core business. I’m currently looking for a contract or freelance role. I’m based in Worthing, Sussex on the south coast, but am happy to work with remote clients. I believe in face to face communication, so when working with distant clients, I do my best to meet in person weekly to give a hands on demonstration of progress and discuss the coming weeks development.
