We are looking for a Django backend developer to join the technology team in Dallas, TX for an innovative and growing local news & entertainment platform. Started as PegasusNews.com (http://www.pegasusnews.com) in Dallas, TX, our platform is now running in 5 markets across the nation. This is a full-time position, available immediately.

We’re a small, growing company where you will work in a challenging, innovative and friendly environment to continually extend and improve the capabilities of our platform. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the full application lifecycle – from specification/design through project delivery — and will work directly with our business sponsors and other team members to ensure that our team is successful.

Our Environment: • Django (1.2), Python, Linux, Postgres, JavaScript, JQuery, Apache, lighttpd, HTML, CSS

Required skills: • Proven experience developing significant database-driven web applications. • Solid Python development experience, preferably in the Django framework • Commitment to iterative development practice • Knowledge of RDBMS and SQL preferably in a MySQL or Postgres environment • Experienced in system administration tasks with a Linux operating system • Proficiency with Git or other source control products • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and quickly grasp new concepts

Desired skills: • History of participation with and contribution to open-source software projects • Knowledge and/or experience with memcache, Apache, nginx, deployment tools/processes
• Familiarity with GeoDjango • Experience gained with website setup and management through a commercial web hosting provider
