Samples database in nanotech research institute

Added on November 18, 2009 and expired on December 18, 2009
This gig has expired It is left here so old links still work, but you should assume it is no longer available.

(This gig has been posted here already in July but Red Tape hit us, so I have to do it again. This time, it is definite.)

ATTENTION: This job must be done on location. Remote work is impossible!

We are a public research institute in the field of photovoltaics. We produce thousands of samples each year, which are organised in Excel, Access, and Word tables so far. Now, we're switching to a central, in-house Django solution. 15,000 LOC (50% docstrings) have been produced until january 2009.

We're looking for a Django developer working full-time on it. You must be a MATA or MATSE (German abbreviations), which is losely equivalent to a bachelor in CS. So anyone with an equivalent certificate may apply.

Currently, the position is intended to be limited to two years. You would be the only one working on it. Excellent mentoring is available, though.

It is not yet decided whether it will become open source, but I think chances are good.

For the definitive official wording of the job offering, please see the link below (in German). Applications must go to the address mentioned on that page.
