The online division of the World Company in Lawrence, Kansas, seeks a Web Developer to join our award-winning team in building the next generation of interactive community news and information web sites.

Web developers work in Django to create new content and interaction frameworks, and to support and extend existing features, on World Company desktop and mobile web sites; participate in collaboratively researching, imagining and creating innovative interactive community news environments; stay up to date on the latest online possibilities and trends; provide support for existing web site features; and in general take part in a fast-paced, collaborative team building our new generation of interactive publishing tools and web sites.

Ideal candidates will have experience with database-backed web development and a history of development in dynamic languages preferably on open-source (LAMP-style) platforms; strong teamwork skills; ability to conceptualize and problem solve; ability to work alongside designers to meet deadlines; database (SQL) theory and data modeling; understanding of web standards and web-development best practices; REST web services; knowledge of user interaction and information architecture concepts. Prior experience creating web sites with Django and a history of participation in the Django community a plus.
