Web application developer

Web application developer needed to develop software to assist scholars in researching, editing and publishing lexicographic articles on key terms of Buddhist thought. Under the direction of the director of software development, the developer will be responsible for participating in the design of the application, implementing selected modules, testing the software and writing and maintaining documentation. The software developed will be released under an open source license. Full time position (baseline of 40h/week); one year contract, with possibility of renewal. Telecommuting ok.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team.
  • Experience with Python, Django, XML, XSLT, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript.
  • (Desirable, but not required) TEI, JQuery, SQL, Unicode and processing multilingual text, managing a LEMP (Linux, nginx, MySQL, PHP) web server.
