BeatBullying is a young, output driven, rapidly expanding children’s charity. Multi-award winning, both in and out of sector, the heart of our mission is our absolute commitment to keeping children and young people safe from violence, bullying and harassment. In doing so, we support some of the most vulnerable and at risk young people in the UK. We do this online, in real-time, using a highly-innovative online counselling and mentoring model.
We are a small in-house digital team comprising designers, Python and Erlang developers, a UX specialist and Front End developer. We are looking for an experienced and talented Python/Django developer to join our team on a contracted basis for an initial three-month period (likely to be extended) and work with us on the development of our web framework and therapeutic tools. The initial focus will be on source control and setting up automated test scripts, whilst contributing to the wider framework.
BeatBullying is a highly collaborative organisation, which is supportive, diverse and open-minded. You'll need to be a proactive, questioning and motivated individual who enjoys being stretched intellectually in a high-octane, fast-paced environment.
As a Python/Django specialist, you will work on our web framework 'Cosmo', focusing on BeatBullying’s online programmes, such as MiniMentors, CyberMentors, FutureYou and the upcoming MindFull, due for launch early in 2013. You will also be working on projects for other 'Cosmo' clients in the Third Sector. Ambitious, dedicated and compassionate, you are likely to have several years' experience with a strong awareness of best practice development; maintaining security, cross-platform/modern browser compliance, accessibility, scalability and performance standards.
